Sneak Away To Write Your Blog
We’ve shared some ideas on how to attack blog writing. We’ve talked about topics. We’ve talked about setting aside time.
But, there is another effective way to get your blog writing on track and it’s simple: get out of the office.
Think about your desk and your office. There are all kinds of distractions around you and, despite the best of intentions, it can be highly challenging to sit down and think about what to write. The phone will ring, there will always be another email to answer and there will be people interrupting you.
Writing can demand focus. Over time, it can become easier to write in an active environment, but if you’re just starting out, getting yourself away from the office is always a good option. This will let you decompress a little and think more clearly about what you want to write about. Once you’ve cleared your mind, you’ll be able to dive in a start writing.
But, the first step is to get a list of anything and everything that you can think of that you feel is interesting to talk about. Former vacations, client trips, your philosophy on travel, interesting destinations — anything you can think of is always a ripe topic for blogs. Remember that most consumers do not have the experience or wisdom of travel that you do. So, get every topic and idea down no matter how basic you think it might be. That topic you think is “boring” might be just what a client is looking for and could spark interest and a booking.
So, where to escape?
Coffee shops are always a good bet. Find a corner and just start working on your laptop or jotting notes on paper on in a notebook. Parks are always a good option as well. A little fresh air (especially this time of year) awakens the senses, clears the mind and can prepare you to create.
If you like listening to music while you work, that’s great to include as part of your routine. It’s amazing how much music can spark ideas and it is always a wonderful companion.
Think about sneaking away. It could get you on the road to creating some outstanding blog posts that your customers will love. As always, we’re here to help you. Just drop us a line and we’ll talk to you about blogging and all of the other elements of social media that can keep your agency rolling.
