How to Add the All-Important Title Tag to each page of your website

Do you know the phrase, “build it and they will come” ? Well, with websites that doesn’t work very well. You can build it, but if nobody knows it’s there, they won’t know to come. So your question is, “how do I get people to come to my website?” One of the answers is by getting ranked higher in the search engines.

“Okay…,” you ask. “How do I do that?”

With our websites it is easy. Search Engine Tools are found on each page of your site. Here’s how to find them:

  1. Log in to your site, click on your site name in the site list and that takes you to your Editing tab
  2. Scroll down and click on the “Home” page down in the Pages area at the bottom of the Editing tab area
  3. The resulting page is your home page. On the left side of the screen you will see a few things, but the area you are looking for is a box called “Search Engine Tools”


  4. If you click on this, a “Search Engine Tools” window will pop up with three things:
    1. Page Title
    2. META Description
    3. META Keywords

    NOTE: These are the three biggest keys to helping rankings in the search engines!

  5. Page Title: Type your page title in this field. It should be concise and meaningful. By this I mean that it should be fairly short (four to five words), and should, in those few words, relate to the page and what it’s about “home” is basic, but if it’s the home page for a company called “Tropical Travel” try something like “Tropical Travel – Your Tropical Destination Expert” (or some other such interesting short one line).
  6. META Description: This needs to relate to content on the page, as well as be about 200 characters. Think of this as your two to three line “elevator” speech – or “if I only had about 15 seconds to tell someone what I do, what would I say…” this should go both here, and probably somewhere on the page.
  7. META Keywords: These should relate to the page. Words found in the keywords here, should also be found on the page if at all possible.

These three things can be customized per each page on your site. Anything in the “pages” area in the editing tab, can have these. You can also update these frequently and base some of the keywords on what you are currently featuring in your travel promotions. Agencies who do this on a schedule – maybe twice a month, or monthly – should find that their search engine rankings will increase.

Another way to get people to your website is by word of mouth: Put your url on everything you have (your business cards and letterhead, your email signature), and share it when talking to people, share it on your social media outlets
